Our Story: A Legacy of Compassion
Barbara's Lighthouse began as a dream to carry forward Ms. Barbara's legacy of compassion. What started as a small initiative has become a growing hub of hope for families across Charlotte and beyond. Ms. Barbara's unwavering faith and dedication to serving others planted the seeds for what would become a transformative ministry.
Her belief that every person deserves dignity, support, and unconditional love continues to guide our mission today. Through her example, we learned that true ministry happens not in grand gestures, but in the quiet moments of listening, caring, and walking alongside those who need us most.

Our Journey of Growth

2016: The Foundation
Founded to provide behavioral and faith-based support to families in crisis. Our first office was small, but our vision was boundless — to be a beacon of hope for every family walking through darkness.

2018: Community Impact
Reached our first milestone of serving 100 families with free counseling services and community resource drives. Word began spreading about the compassionate care families received at Barbara's Lighthouse.

2021: Educational Expansion
Expanded into school partnerships, offering Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs and restorative practice training. Teachers and administrators welcomed our trauma-informed approach to student support.

2024: Empowering Athletes
Launched scholarship and mentorship programs specifically for female athletes, combining academic support with character development and leadership training rooted in faith-based values.

Behavior Support
Trauma-informed care, de-escalation strategies, and SEL coaching for children and teens. We help students regulate emotions, resolve conflict, and succeed in school and life through evidence-based interventions.
Mental and Behavioral Health Counseling
Our counseling provides spiritual, mental, and emotional healing. Licensed pastoral and clinical counselors and peer mentors walk alongside each client's journey to wholeness.
Professional Development
Educators, clergy, and staff receive comprehensive training in SEL, classroom management, restorative practices, and trauma-informed strategies. These workshops build confidence and capacity to support students more effectively.
Mentorship & Journals
From teen girls receiving their first reflection journal to athletes being mentored toward scholarships, we invest deeply in the next generation. Every mentorship relationship cultivates resilience, confidence, and leadership.
